Experience

I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2009), accredited by the University of Plymouth.  From 2009 onwards I worked for the NHS, in community mental health teams.  I specialised in offering psychological assessments and therapy to adults at different ages, and stages of the life span – from students, through to people towards the end of their lives.  I worked with anxiety, depression, many kinds of bereavement, trauma (PTSD and complex PTSD), severe and enduring mental health problems, issues relating to chronic illness, ageing and dementia.

I am an EMDR therapist and member of ‘EMDR UK’. I am working towards accreditation as an EMDR practitioner with ‘EMDR Europe’.

In addition to EMDR, I draw upon trauma-focused ‘imagery re-scripting’, the Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach, somatic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.  I am also influenced by psychodynamic theory and practice, having had further training and supervision in individual, and group related approaches.
